About the Event
Give Where You Live
Join the Cafe Namaste community  as we help Health in the Hood, a local non-profit, connect urban communities to wellness by building vegetable gardens. We will meet as a group to help build a vegetable garden in what is known as a food desert. Come prepared to work, shovel, and build!Â
Time: 9-11AM (we will start at 9AM to avoid the midday heat!) Parking is free and on the street.Â

Integrity Check-In: Please make sure to attend if you sign up. We have limited space and there is a waiting list of people willing to serve. They are counting on your help and very much appreciate it! If you signed up and cannot make it, let us know immediately so we can open your space to someone else.Â
What to Bring:
Please wear comfortable clothing that you  don't mind getting dirty, closed toe shoes, bring a reusable water  bottle, hat, and sunscreen!Â

Health in the Hood is a non-profit with a mission to provide equal food access for all. Founded  by Executive Director, Asha Walker in 2013, Health in the Hood set out  to connect communities to wellness with a simple idea.
Local vegetable gardens to feed and inform communities in need. What they do:
- End food insecurity in underserved neighborhoods
- Build urban vegetable farms
- Distribute free produce
- Teach nutrition and fitness
- Establish sustainable local food ecosystems
