Bollywood Nights: Dance Class + Indian Food Tasting

Get ready Miami! Join us  on Wednesday, Sept 29 at 6:30PM for a special Bollywood Nights cultural evening at X Miami rooftop. Learn something new, meet new people, and have fun! Enjoy Indian bites after class from Namaste Miami Coral Gables restaurant.

• Pop-up Henna art station to benefit the Vathsalya Happy Home Orphanage (Odisha, India)

No dance experience is necessary. Come ready to have fun and meet new people.

Henna Art Design

We will  have a special pop-up Henna art station with Pooja Gupta from Vathsalya Henna. Henna tattoos are a form  of body art and temporary skin decoration in which decorative designs are created on a person's body, using a paste created from the powdered  dry leaves of the henna plant. All of the Henna proceeds will be going to Vathsalya Happy home Orphanage located in Odisha, India. Suggested donation $15-20. 

What is Bollywood?

Bollywood  Dance originated from the Bollywood (Hindi) Movie Industry as a free  style dance fused with elements from Indian classical and folk dance forms. It has been and still a song and dance sequence with larger than life expression through various different moves, grandeur sets,  picturesque locations and large ensemble.

BollyJazz  - This fusion dance class brings you the best of the expressive beauty  and contagious energy of Bollywood's most stylized dances and mashes them up with the influences of hip hop, Latin, jazz, funk and street  styles. 

About Pooja Uberoi

Pooja was born and raised in New Delhi, India and later moved to Mumbai to work in film and  television as a Choreographer and the head of one of the biggest Jazz  schools in India. Pooja will share her experiences as a dance instructor while growing up in India. After spending 2 decades in the dance world in India she moved to New  York and started Ikigai USA and BollyJazz. Pooja is a trained E-RYT  200-Hr Hatha yoga teacher from an institute in Bangalore, India. She has  been inspired by her own journey to create something for the world  through dance. She believes dance has the power to heal and connect the  world and must be part of everyone's life. Her company, IKIGAIUSA, helps  and encourages people to follow their passion and mission by encouraging  them to follow their IKIGAI. Pooja currently shuttles between New York  City and Miami to teach students in both cities. Pooja also teaches  Bollywood as part of various public school dance residencies in  Brooklyn, NY.

Location

Bollywood Nights will be held at X Miami Apartment, 230 NE 4th St, at the rooftop pool deck (p-level). Street parkign is available on 3rd and in front of the building. This building is a hotel and residence. Please go to security to be sent up to the main pool deck.
